Can anyone recommend a high quality step. The one we have just now came with the caravan but it needs replaced now.

We have one of the double steps but think they are all much of the same amazon found the folding ones were not very stable

Aldi have "royal" made ones for £14.99. They are double step ones. Have a look in your local, they may have some left

I have this one got it from local caravan shop much cheaper than that so shop around. Better than the metal ones I think & the metal type with feet will tend to sink into soft ground.

As a 'larger' gentleman

I have had lots of problems with caravan steps. We've had 3 or 4 metal types. Some single step some double step and all of them either wobbled and eventually broke or the feet sank in to the ground. I now have one of these and whilst it is cheaper and made of plastic it is far more stable and it has holes in each foot to peg it in place. It's only a single step though.

I have bought several second hand caravan steps over the past years to see what is best for us which range from from a single step to various double steps. What I found is that those with 4 feet will sometimes sink into the ground especially on wet ground and the double folding ones we found were too narrow and slippy. We eventually settled for the 'Milenco' aluminium double step because it is sturdy and lightweight but originally had no rubber grip pads. However, 'Milenco' did manufacture an identical design double step with rubber feet pads so we bought one brand new. Because of the tubular design at the base it never sinks into the grass but can sometimes be a problem on uneven ground so I kept a lightweight aluminium single step for this reason so now we have a choice which one to use and store the other one under the caravan. However, two steps can be useful for reaching the awning rail at the highest point when sliding the awning cord through and also for reaching and assembling the centre poles. Peoples preferences are different so there is no hard and fast rule to say what steps are best, you just need to try various ones then make your own choice which best suits you.
