Well I read the reviews, on here and elsewhere, but thought as they were all older I would give the company a chance, they had what I wanted in stock (or so the website said) but in actual fact it was out of stock, I only found this out by calling them to check as it hadn't arrived on the date promised.
The customer service I recieved was hopeless, the item had been placed on back order, but they couldn't say how long it would take to fulfil the order, nor did they offer any explanation why the website was showing stock of items which are out of stock. They also couldn't understand why I would want notifying of the status of the order, the lady said I should just wait it out and see when it turns up.
Not good enough I'm afraid, I will not be spending my money here again, and I would strongly advise anyone who may be thing about giving them a chance to reconsider.
Companies should realise that the customer makes the business work, I got the feeling they felt like they were doing me a favour by selling me the item.
I signed up to discuss camping and read the reviews of products.
It just happens that I have had this experience shortly after signing up to the site. I assure you that yes I would report good service also. I believe firmly that the customer should the business, and as such good companies should be praised and the not so good should be avoided.
I think on the whole in this country we are lacking in customer service, compared to a lot of other countries. I think this is mainly due to our British attitudes, where by we do not like to cause a fuss. I am currently looking to buy the same item from a different retailer, and I will make certain to update this thread, or start a new one to report my experiences.
Chris.
I also wonder if you would of been so defensive had the company not had a sticky post and director on the forums?
Unfortunately, I've had the same experience as Deserter.
When I first got my caravan last August, I ordered all of the gear we needed from Towsure. Everything showed as in stock. When the order arrived a couple of days later, two items were backordered, and the towing mirrors were broken.
To their credit, the mirrors were replaced without need to return the broken ones, but there was no ETA on the backordered items and I had no option but to cancel and source elsewhere.
Recently, my father bought his first motorhome and also ordered some items from Towsure to equip it. Again, two of the items that had been stated as in stock were back-ordered. That was nearly two months ago now - and still no items have arrived, despite a promised eta coming and going.
So our family has placed 2 orders with Towsure and replicated Deserter's experience on both occasions.
Just an update, I looked around a little and found the item I wanted to order for £5 less at Outback Trading, gave them a call to double check stock availability, happily the item is in stock and should be with me on Tuesday/Wednesday. I'll keep you up to date as to the service etc. here.
I went to the shop in Sheffield and the customer service was hopeless. One poor chap ahead of us in the queue had driven 200 miles after being told on the phone earlier the same day that the awning he wanted was in stock... Guess what it wasn't. They were rubbish for me too.
