Just wondered if anyone has one and if it's any good. My daughter (aged 16 and 5 ft 9) is currently sleeping on a Coleman single air bed and sim on the top, blanket wrapped completely around the air bed, fitted sheet, and sleeping bag. She wears plenty of clothes and sometimes thermals. She says she is cold and uncomfortable, even in France in the summer. We wondered if a camp bed/sim combo might be better for her. She has Asperger's syndrome and suffers from sensory problems, especially with heat and cold. She doesn't realise she is getting cold until she is really cold - she almost got hypothermia in the school playground once, aged six.
We were thinking about camp beds instead of airbeds how do people find them are they comfortable. We used to use them as kids but I was a bit smaller then. Do many adults use them.
What sort of sleeping bag do you use, have you thought about changing your daughter bag.
I don't know about the Vango beds but we all use Outwell Posadas beds and so far so good. They seem very comfortable either with a 5cm sim on top with a sheet or just a double duvet folded over with a sheet on top. Our boys go to bed in fleecy socks, pj's, fleecy onesie and then either a sleeping bag or duvet and blanket. We literally cook our children to sleep . They are warmer than inflatable mattresses as they do not have direct contact with a cold floor.

I have the Vango XL camp bed, mainly due to a bad back / nerve damage find it hard to get up from the floor. I have paired this with the Vango 10cm sim, which fits beautifully. Cotton fitted sheet on the SIM, duvet, pillow - a better and warmer nights sleep I could not wish for.
The only negative, turns a double sleeping pod into a single and you have to have the pod door open as its too wide / long - but I'm comfortable.
Thanks Oldwolf, that's helpful. We had thought about the 10cm mat as well, and I had wondered whether the bed would be too long for the bedroom pod - it's 210cm and so is the bed! Width wise, she's in a single pod but at least she could store stuff under the bed. Thinking of buying from Attwolls so at least we could return it if no good when we have tested it in the tent in the garden. I think she will want to sleep with the door zipped up though - two smaller brothers to contend with!
Sarahir,we too got our XL's from Attwoolls. I fear though the camp bed will not fit as the 210 bed pod length is measured at floor level and not at the height of the camp bed. The feet of the camp bed is therefore is in the main compartment.I'm 6'2" and have room to spare, but the extra width means a near perfect fit for the 10cm Sim.
Oh well, looks as though we will have to get the regular size then. She won't want anything sticking out of the pod! Plus I think the pod is warmer if you can zip up fully.
Hail, fellow Attwools shopper! Have been in so many times lately, kids are recognised in the cafe now!
I have the XL vango camp bed and I would not camp without it. I do put a memory foam topper on for that bit of extra comfort. It also gives you more storage space
