Can anyone recommend us an airbed? We have always had cheap ones but woundering if you get what you pay for? Our last one popped at 6 in the morning last year luckily on our last day in Cornwall so needing another before this years trip.
I don't think u so always get what u pay for, out cheap air bed lasted two seasons, invested in an aerobed which definitely wasn't cheap, didn't even last one season, now onto camp beds
We have an aerobed raised platinum king paid £125 for it 3 years ago still going strong an would hesitate to get another one
We camp roughly 40-45 days per year best nights sleep I had whilst camping
------------- April Peak District Beech Croft Farm
May Peak District Duke of York
May Holland Delfse Hout
June Cotton Arms Nantwich
july/aug Cornwall Pentewan Sands
And quite a few local weekenders
Have been looking at the Coleman Raised Quickbed Queen Airbed, the Raised Xtra Quickbed Double By Campingaz, Hi Gear Flock Double Layer Airbed or out well flock excellent king arrived
I used to have airbeds, but have now converted to a SIM, far more comfort and warmer I use a 10cm one, not cheap as its a Skandika double. but worth every penny and will not look at an airbed again..... Just my two pennies worth.
We have just taken delivery of an intex queen sized air bed with built in pump, wow it is awesome, tried it out and really looking forward to my two weeks away now.
Another vote for the Intex Queen. Our first lasted 4 seasons and the second would be in it's 2nd season if we were still using it. We used it in the awning as we were on a seasonal pitch so the bed was in use from April til October at least 2 nights every week and more whenever we could get away. Cost around £40 so only £10 per season and as we have a combined weight of over 30 stone I think it did well. The only reason we're not using it now is that we've bought a static and now have a proper bed. I got the best nights sleep ever on the airbed but at the beginning of the season we'd blow it up and leave for a few days as it sometimes went down and we found it to be a speck of dust on the seal. it would need a 5 second top up maybe every couple of weeks but that would be it.
We have had our Coleman comfort for 4yrs and it's still going strong (touchwood!!) and was going to buy another for my sons now they are getting bigger, but all the recent reviews on amazon are saying they have deflated, so now I'm not so sure!!, wondering if it's a dodgy batch???
I have just bought an Intex Downy queen after my aerobed died :( I had a little try of it yesterday and I have to say it seemed comfier than the aerobed!!
We have also bought the Intex raised queen and tried it out at the weekend and it felt very comfy. Sat on it all evening and left it 'up' overnight to check how inflated it was in the morning. Seemed absolutely fine - can't wait to try mine out in a couple of weeks when we go away!
We bught a fantastic airbed from Decathlon...steep at 120Euros but its fantastic.
It is basically a huge duvet and you inflat two single airbeds to insert into sleeves, this is topped with a duvet type top which clips on all the way round. We then put the sleeping bags on top of this...so luxurious and there is no fear of puncturing.
One tip I will impart is, place a travel rug underneath the airbed, nothing will pearce the airbed and any dampbess will be absorbed by the travel rug
If I can find a link the airbed we bought I'll post it on here later.

Decathlon can be bought on line, as yet there are very few stores in the UK, they are a bit like go Outdoors in that they monopolise the market in Europe.
We use quite a lot of Decathlon kit, we even ditched out Outwell in favour of our modular approach using 2 huge pop ups, they do the job when we are in France, not sure how they would fair in the UK climate though, they awould not stand up well in the winds we experience up in Cumbria or Scotland.
I hope you sort a bed for your next trip.
