I finally have my shiney new Cobb. I see they want to sell me a griddle which costs about another £30. Is this an essential or do people manage to bbq successfuly without it?
I've found that I can do everything just using the wok, which is actually a frying pan and the grill which is supplied. Those two items are sufficient in my opinion (and I'm a cook). :)
I just use the plate that comes with it. Chris Hall has the flat frying pan which is handy if you want to do stuff like fried eggs that runs. I too am thinking about the wok, but again I would say it has limited use, especially as you have the rings in the TT if you want to heat anything like that.
The wok is not a wok as we think of one. It actually has a flat base and is very similar to the frying pan I use at home. It is more useful as a frying pan than the Cobb frying plate. I intended to get the Cobb frying plate (do they call it a griddle) then realised that as the wok is actually a frying pan I didn't need it.
that was basically my thinking of the various uses of the various items and to be honest we rarely eat curries etc when camping and if we did I would just heat them up on the stove, usually we cook something , like veg in the moat and something on the top.
