Hi
We have a Gelert meridian 8 tent and porch but the porch isn't water tight so when it rains we get slightly flooded, does anyone have any tips or help
Thanks guys
Do you mean you don't have a groundsheet or do you have a groundsheet that isn't attached to anything?
I quite like having no groundsheet in the porch of my tent, as I can put wet coats over a chair and let them drip on to the grass. But in time the grass can get churned up in the entrance. To combat that I have a small panel of breathable groundsheet, the type with holes like you can get for an awning. I put it down on the high traffic entrance to the tent to stop mud from forming. Then in the main tent it's a dirt trapper mat and a no shoes rule.
Not familiar with the tent (or the porch) but I get the feeling you may need to consider something along these lines...
Search "Interlocking foam floor mats".
There's a million on the market, so shop around. Look for the perforated ones, as per my pic, as some have no holes. Shouldn't have to pay much more than a tenner for four. Can be used on top of a ground sheet (which can hold water itself though, obviously) or better still, lay straight on the grass. If it's particularly windy, or indeed, if you haven't laid them flat in the car, they may lift a little, so use those short plastic mushroom headed pegs through the holes (not every hole! LOL!). Various colours available too.
Last time I looked, Aldi had some in.
Just note sizes, before you buy... some are 500mm square, some are 600mm square.
...Oh, and if they come with the edging trims, do what we ended up doing... and chuck 'em in t' bin!!
PS:
I agree with Campernic... if rain can get in, be it an open front, or a sloping door that lets in rain each time you go in and out, give the groundsheet a miss, or at least, if at all possible, fold the groundsheet back a foot or so, so any driving rain doesn't reach it. Grass is so much more practical, and as said, these mats save it churning and turning into mud!
Same mats, but laid on a groundsheet (We were newbies back then, and didn't even know we preferred grass!!) :-)...
Just wondered why the porch leaks? Is it the material that is letting in water or the design of the porch, ie an open front or gaps?
Have you installed it correctly as per the instructions?
my porch lets in rain where it meets the main tent but the rain runs down the sides of the main tent and into the ground. As I know this happens, I have a groundsheet which goes down the centre of the porch but not right to the sides and I ensure that nothing that could get ruined or water damaged goes there.
