ah - life the universe and everything.... just go camping! then be a bit more specific when you've been away and you'll get loads of help here. Really. It's far too broad a question for any helpful answers, and there are loads of previous threads that may be very helpful.
lol weegmack i think it would, we have bought an old fiat ducato autostraus. I was after ideas mainly on keeping crockery etc safe while on the move and jars in the cupboards still that kind of thing, so we dont have to keep packing it all away, we intend to do lots of short stops due to our hobby and was just wondering if anyone of you had come up with some clever ideas.Have been searching the internet and there doesnt seem a great deal around.
Many thanks
Yvonne
I used to have a Fiat based Swift Suntor, I now have a VW Van conversion ( long story, but for health reasons, need toilet onboard and we like to day-trip, so it's kitted out with a small toilet and sink/hob/cupboard).
When we had the Motorhome, there was a wee space under the oven where I just kept a milk pan and two other saucepans (very light-weight ones, cheap from Asda). We just kept the bare minimum of 4 mugs, 4 melamine cups, 4 of plates, bowls, side plates (all melamine). I never had any problems with anything falling out of anywhere. Stick to light-weight items for your crockery and cooking. We also had a very light-weight kettle (to use on the gas hob), which had a folding handle, for easy storage. I wrapped the rattly grill pan in a tea towel and popped it in an overhead cupboard.
Jars and tins I often kept in a plastic crate (like the ones that fold away) and either put them in a cupboard we had beside the bench seat, or under the seats. We just got used to only really shopping for what we needed.
Take some hose and a tap connector, I've just made one up for mine. Wilko have got the brass connectors on offer at half price at the minute.
We made a list on our first trip of all the ideas we had, one of them was that I made an L shaped mat for the cooker top, it leaves one burner exposed for use and keeps the other three clean from splatter. I used a rubber car mat for it.
thankyou for your reply's, some good ideas :-) it was converted from a 4 birth to 2 birth so we are currently converting it back as well as setting it up, we have been out in it once when we got it to try and it was great fun and cant wait to go again already got a few ideas to try ie going to make some pockets to put up in the cabin bed for the kids to put there clutter in out our way lol. have put a couple of bits up in the toilet for toiletries etc, now we just need to go and try it out. we have been out and got some melamine dishes now altho a couple of proper mugs are a must. im sure each time we use it we will come back with some more little projects, i think the hardest thing to learn will be to do as weegmack says and just buy whats needed, that may need practise. getting really excited now
