We've just bought a new van which has bunks with windows. Does anyone know if you can buy a device that will lock the window so our daughter cannot open it from the inside.... we doubt that she will but better to be safe than sorry
Thanks for the info - looks good if you want an audible alarm, but we were thinking of a simple lock that you could fit onto the existing window catches..
Suppose we could use a ty-rap or similar, but surely someone makes a device that can stop the window being opened from the inside?
Wonder if the caravan manufacturers are missing a trick here with family type vans?
The problem with a manufacturer selling a window lock is that caravan windows are seen as escape routes and if a lock was in place and an occupant died in a fire they would, no doubt, be sued.
I know it is difficult but I would try the 'training' route rather than a physical deterrant ---- depends on age though !
Assuming there are 2 handles at the bottom of the window, couldn't you devise some sort of bar that attaches to both of these when closed/horizontal so that neither can be turned?
Drill a small hole in one of the tongues of the handle and insert a self tapping screw. That would stop her and as she grows up just remove the screw and no-one will know.

Yes I sort of agree with you Grampian91 - they seem to be made from a security angle and not child safety..
Although we did think that a well placed ty-rap would hold them in place, but then again why bother with the locks and we could use a simple ty-rap in the first place!!
Replacement lock handles are readily available and easy to fit. So, why not order a set of replacements (and for the sake of originality remove the originals and place them in safe storage) and then cut off the lever bit of the new ones and fit them to your windows. Relatively cheap and easily reversible... Not fancy or sophisticated but it will do the job...
