Looking a buying a proper portable fridge, as we feel our powered coolbox doesn't adequately do the job for a full fortnight. However, European prices are much better, and with Obelink providing a cheap delivery service, we have thought about going down that route.
Has anyone else done this, and do you simply use a EU/UK converter plug? Would you recommend it?
Thanks

If you are buying a 3way fridge box, I would have thought it would be better to buy local to where you live even if it costs another £20 then you can take it back if it goes faulty. Obelink uk website only lists the Tristar fridge which has a few poor reviews on Go outdoors website & those on their Dutch website are little different to UK prices. My 3'hapth, anyway.
But yes you can use European plug with adaptor no probs, the adaptor is reverse of what you would use on UK appliance abroad but you can get them in Tescos.
Yep, waits on Francais to extol the virtues of Obelink.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Thanks for that introduction blueexpo97, and yes I can not fault Obelink they delivered our Mobicool C40 back in February 2013 all in for £139 the included delivery charge was £4. delivery took 3 days and could be tracked they used DPD for the delivery.
Although it has to be said that the packaging on the Mobicool product is mediocre at best, and some have arrived damaged, although ours arrived unscathed.
We had to use the NL website as the Mobicool C40 was not listed on the UK version.
As for the Plug we kept with the moulded 2 pin Plug as we have Euro sockets on our EHU, for UK use we use an adapter.
There are two Mobicool models to choose from the C40 or the B40 the only difference is that the B40 works as a Cooler when on 12v which would have been a useless feature for us, so saved £15 and went for the C40.
Pity that Obelink don't offer the Waeco CK40D same unit as the Mobicool C40 but adds Digital Display and Push Button setting for about 40€ extra.
Both Mobicool and Waeco are from Dometic, and our Mobicool C40 was truly outstanding for our fortnight in Frejus last July.
You could still run these mains only compressor fridges of 12v with a decent Pure Sine Wave inverter say 750watt type.
Otherwise expect to pay £700 for a proper Waeco 40 lt compressor fridge that will run of 12/24v and mains.
We bought a mobicool C40 from obelink, and it is one of the best camping purchases we have made. It is currently turned up fully and is being used as a freezer. We just left the continental plug fitted and use a british adaptor, the delivery from obelink was quicker than from uk suppliers, and arrived well packed and secure. Would highly recommend them.
The C40 is our favourite bit of kit, so much so we're buying another one next year! Can't fault the service from Obelink either - delivery was quick and easy..
Yep Bryan, that imho is a better buy than the Mobicool C40 as it has the Digital Display, can you confirm that the required Tempreture can be set by using Push Button controls, and not just a simple Rotary Thermostat control, as as found on the Mobicool C40 and early version of the Waeco model.
It is also good to see that the Waeco version is now available in the UK, good find on your part.
You have obviously got the Hybrid version that acts as a Cooler when on 12v, Waeco also do a Mains only none 12v none Hybrid model of the CK40D which would be my model of choice, although that model is only available from retailers in Germany I found, mores the pity.
At £50 more than the Mobicool C40, the Digital Display and Settings of the CK40D are a nice additional feature, and probably worth the extra to some.

Yes it's touch button. Currently full of my favourite beer at Keswick caravan camping club site.
Hi Bryan good to read that your Waeco CK40D is the fully featured model, I will keep a look out for the None Hybrid None 12v version, as I still covet one of those.
As for my trusty Mobicool C40 which I got back in 2013 I have added a Acu-Rite 986 Digital Wireless Thermometer.
The Acu-Rite is very handy for keeping an eye on the Tempreture, and monitors two zones within the Mobicool C40.
Some what overkill, but the Acu-Rite is a Fridge/Freezer monitor so comes with two sensor transmitters, the unit cost £25 which included shipping from the U.S.A. but still worked out cheaper than buying from the UK!
Looks like the C40 and not the B40 either way good choice, what price did it come in at, our C40 worked out at £139 inc delivery back in February 2013, superb piece of kit.
Think we paid a bit more, but included the stand as well. Delivery had gone up to €17, but it still worked out worth it.
It's the C40, as we wouldn't get any use out of the 12v, as it's too large to put anywhere accessible in the car.
Just need to book somewhere to test-drive it now before our main holiday.
