Do many of you use this - what does it really do? and would you recommend it?
OH says cleaning the rail with a little brush when you clean the van is sufficient and we don't need anything else !!

If you are referring to the yellow strips you slide in ,they keep spiders out from laying eggs in there and also reduce black marks from side of van.

I use it on both sides of my van for the very reason that birdman suggests, it allows the water to drain off the roof without dribbling down the sides of the van causing black streaks, its not perfect but is good enough. I did see one called The Streaker that looked like if was much better but it was too many pennies for me.
