anyone used one of these I have a 1000kg model
used it on my car to check it but found that it gave me 120kg above my local weighbridge the reason for this I need to check my caravan at home before filling it up and getting the weight correct so I don't overload?
any helpful glues?
An axle weigher will not give you accurate overall weight, only the weight on each axle. This is why HGV's are weighed loaded & empty on full sized weighbridge for purposes of ascertaining actual weight of load. Axle weight figures are not accurate enough for this purpose.
Axle weighers are for purpose of checking weights on each axle to ensure vehicle is road legal but added together do not give an accurate overall weight.
I should add though that you have not wasted your money. Provided caravan axle weight does not exceed Mtplm, each axle weight on car is within limit of car & combined figures of the 3 axles do not exceed car gross train weight then this is all you need to know to be legal on the road.
