Is it really necessary to buy a low wattage electric toaster for camping? We use an electric hookup with integral rcdand use a standard household kettle for brewing up without any problems. Therefore we are thinking of taking our household 2 slice toaster this season which has got to be more efficient than a gas burner with grill.
Any thoughts about this would be appreciated
Normal domestic toaster should be fine, just avoid using it at the same time as boiling the kettle or using the fan heater to avoid overloading the supply.
I cannot be bothered to work out the different combination of electrical appliances that I can use at the same time without overloading the supply, and stick to the rule of only one appliance with a heating element to be used at a time.

we have never used (or owned) any of the low power camping type of appliances. Just ordinary domestic kettles, toasters, microwaves (if we bother with one).
Be careful with heaters and kettles as some can exceed a 10 amp supply and the majority of hook up cables will only support 10 amps.
Some electric kettles for instance are 3000 watts and will draw 13 amps. Some fan heaters are 2400 watts or even 3000 watts. No need to resort to travel kettles and stuff just get a household kettle that is below 2300 watts (10 amps) and don't have it switched on at the same time as other high wattage appliances.
With regards to toasting and cooking without the inconvenience of gas...an electric mini oven will do most things one needs when camping.
OP, why can't you make toast using the grill of the gas cooker?
I do not use gas, and have a Coleman Dual Fuel 2-burner liquid stove plus a 2kW electric kettle; and I make toasts on the stove using a single-slice folding toast rack.

Cheap kettle cheap toaster and even halogen oven run ON THEIR OWN with no problem off a 10amp supply. Just watch some kettles usually the more expensive ones can be up to 3000watt which can trip your supply.

Can I ask what TV/DVD you have there? It looks nice and compact - just what I need!
Helen, We got it from Asda some years back. Not stocked anymore. We just use it to watch dvd as its not got freeveiw or anything on it. But yes it is handy. Geoff
You can get freeview on an older TV with a "NowTV" box, size of a small camera. There's a post about setting it up in the first place, easy peasy to use thereafter.
