We've had numerous airbeds over the years, cheap ones from Tesco, Aldi, Asda, an Intex one and a rubber type one and they have all eventually let us down. We've used a raised Aerobed since 2011, we make sure its well insulated underneath and then have a sheepskin type mattress protector that we put on top before putting on a fitted sheet. Its never let us down.....yet!!
My hubby has rheumatoid arthritis and would struggle with a SIM only, so if we need to change in the future it will be campbeds with SIMs on top.
Mine (a double) was £9.99 in Asda and has been going strong since 2010.
I'm considering a Posada camp bed as well, as I now have trouble getting up from such a low level. Getting old is damn nuisance (but preferable to the alternative, I suppose).
With me being a lot younger than most on here... ok then, starting camping a lot later in life... and being fortunate enough to find these forums at the same time, I was, moreover, also fortunate enough to begin my camping career in an era when everyone was championing the SIM & Camp bed combo, so thanks to these forums, and a bit of luck with my timing, I streaked straight past the air bed route, and got it right first time!
I guess I really should thank everyone for doing the research (and suffering untold years of unsettled sleep in the process!) for me!
We have had cheap airbeds & then moved onto the Coleman double chamber airbed. Thats been replaced twice already under guarantee & needs replacing again! We saw the Outwell 5cm sim on offer at £20 so we bought 2 of them today from Go Outdoors. I would never buy another airbed they never seem to last for us.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
