Hi, I think it was here that I saw people discussing buying the kampa keg water carrriers and was just wondering if anyone has used them yet and what you think. Most importantly do they make the water taste plasticy? Our old flat thing like this works and packs away to nothing at all, which is great but tastes manky in the morning, so debating a new alternative or just putting less in it and filling it more often. (But thats dull and logical and doesn't involve shiny new camping kit ) Thanks Lisa
If water tastes 'plasticy' it means container is not made of food grade plastic & leaches chemicals. Cleap water containers sold in £ shops & so on may not be but containers sold in 'proper' camping shops like Go Outdoors should be made from food grade plastic which will not taint the water.
Looking at Kampa Keg advert it does say 'BPA free' so probably ok.
Thanks there appear to be surprisingly few very compact water carriers which list being BPA free even from the likes of outwell. So the kampa keg is looking ever more promising. As I expect people would say BPA free if things were.
I have only used the kampa keg for 1 weekend and didn't notice any plastic taste, but didn't particularly like it. the blue lid & handle come off completely and you are only left with concertina bit to fill with water. I stood it on sink to fill it.
We use the 2 litre value water from tesco. It is about 30p. Mr Frazzle complains that it is thin plastic but we use it for a week then bin (well recycle it). So we always have a clean one no need to clean out the water carrier.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
