Hello Everyone
Just wanting a bit of advice before i go out and buy a double camping wardrobe for my awning.
Can anyone recommend the best one to get, it is to house clothes for 4 children and 2 adults.
I have been looking online any they are quite pricey so want to ensure i get the right one.
Also are they easy to put up or will i need a degree to do this.
Any advice and comments would be more than welcome.
Thanks in advance for any advice and replies.
If you have any sort of horizontal pole in the tent/awning these will do as great hangers for clothes/shoes/bit & bobs. I have four, two for each side of the tent...

Hi Mo, one of the 1st things we got when we started camping was a wardrobe, and I can tell you it was the 1st thing I got rid of. Seemed so easy, push a few, well a lot of poles together then feed some more poles thru the canvas shelves put the canvas outer over the top and hey presto a wardrobe. For us anyway it was a nightmare far too many poles and a good half hour wasted building it. As for pulling the poles apart when your done, if you had just pushed any pole a bit too firmly when building it you needed the strengh of Charles Atlas to pull them apart. In saying that I did get it from Aldi so perhaps others are far better. Just look how it has to go together would be my advice. Geoff
we also have 4 children - but never felt the need for a camping wardrobe - we don't take a lot of clothes as we layer and just keep them in a bag :) lot easier and one less thing to take up space and have to erect/pack up :)

I'm with geoffprinter on these. We bought a Royal double wardrobe a couple of years back. Cost about £50 IIRC.
A pain to put together, a bigger pain to take apart again, it was hardly used and hasn't been used since. We just keep cleans folded in bags/cases and dirty clothes go into bin liners.
Hi Maureen, I have one of these, http://www.urbantrading.co.uk/regat-17632-b9769-regatta-folding-outdoor-portable-camping-storage-wardrobe-cupboard.html
Compared to some wardrobes, this one is easy, u just open the 'suitcase' open it up and secure with Velcro straps.
We have used it once, it was just simply a bit too tall for our tent, feel free to get in touch if ur interested.
Weve got a taller unit with 6 compartments. There is 5 of us and works well. I wouldnt be without it and goes up in seconds. We did have one with poles and was a pain so changed for a folding one. It keeps everything tidy and away.
If I was looking for a wardrobe I would go for one like the outwell Martinique... Just Google plenty of video demos and looks easy to set up.
Other brands royal easy up - not poled version, hi gear, regatta, eurohike and gelert all very similar most discontinued however the eurohike is around £45 and hi gear around £57..both will always have some sort of extra discount with go outdoors and millets.

Used ours once but never again! Too much of a faff to put together so we resorted to plastic storage boxes with lids.
We have one each and they stack neatly in the car and then stow away under the camp beds when on site, keeping the tent tidy.
we have an outwell martinique, I got bags that fit in each space/shelf so we all have our own space, easier to find wipes/nappies, toddlers clean pants etc. On saying that don't think it's worth the effort for just a weekend. it's easy to build but definitely a lot of money, it's also quite heavy at 10.8 kg. that being said I hate the idea of being in a guddle
here's a couple of examples that we use ... the plastic drawers are from B&q ... all clothes just stay in them, one unit per person, and load in and out of the car .... the folding larder just folds up ... about 20 seconds ... we have two more that can act as wardrobes or anything ... the whole idea is to be quick and easy ...

Yes it is more of a long stay furniture item and you will need to have space. Op well worth looking on eBay and Gumtree as you will find a few of this type on those sites hardly used...may not work out for some people but you should get one for half the rrp if not cheaper.
And avoid those with the put together poles as mentioned on this thread a friend had one, used it once hated it and never used it again.

As a mum of five, we never bothered with wardrobes etc, the simplest solution for us was to pack clothes for each child in a holdall, then on arrival put all the underwear, pjs etc in a 'bag for life' and that then leaves you with enough room in the holdall to be able to find the rest of the clothing without too much rummaging around.
We just kept each child's set of clothes at the end of their bed in the sleeping compartments.
All dirty stuff went in a family laundry bag, ready for washing!
There are cupboard units of varying sizes that you can buy which simply unfold and then clip, we have one for food storage, but would never bother with anything like that for clothes.
We (DH and I) always just left our clothes in our holdalls.
