Has or does anyone use the vacuum pack storage bags for travelling? just wondering if the run of the mill camping pumps work on them for the return journey.. I've got a regatta premium pump with a couple of attachments and am contemplating getting a couple for the bedding etc as they seem to take up most of the space.
Yes we use them but not the vacuum ones. Look for the ones that you roll the air out of, they will have a non return channel at the bottom. We take our home pillows, blankets and sheets in them, flattens down a treat! We bought our bags from Dunelm. No need for a pump then!
We used to use them for the beach towels as well, but have just invested in some Decathlon XL microfibre towels, four of those take up the same space as one traditional large towel.
I use the normal vacumme bags and find that the pump works fine on them, it removes about 75 per cent of the air, but that's ok as you don't tent to care if thing are crumpled coming home and things fit in the car better filling all the gaps
We have used them and used a Coleman pump to deflate them on the way back. Not quite as good as the vacuum but quite adequate. I bought mine from Asda.
We use Space Bag brands. If we have no EHU we just use a manual pump set on reverse. Works a treat. If we remember to take it we also use a rechargeable Dyson hand held vaccum.
We've used them in the past, what we did was to put sleeping bags etc in then lay something on them to squash them down a bit while doing something else.
Then we connected an outwell rechargable pump and sucked them flat, what I did find though was that it is hard to get an air tight seal when sucking so what I did was to invert a small funnel over the valve and put the pump on that, it worked a treat!
Yes we've used them successfully for yonks. Our pump was £7 from argos and the bags were on offer at tesco home. £16 for 4 different sizes I think. We get a kingside and double duvets plus four pillows squished down.

We got ours off eBay and from Ray Gar.Think we paid about £10 for six good sized bags and easily fitted our kingsize quilt,bed sheet and pillows in one.

I get the kids to sit on them first and suck the remaining air of with one of these which comes in handy to clean the tent out before packing it away.
We use dual roll/vac bags from a local discount emporium (trago mills)they are under £4 for a pack of 4 different sizes brilliant for pillows ETC and thourougly rolling them gets them almost as compact as vacuuming.
i love my vacuum bags, its handy for clothes too as well as duvets etc. Day bu day we put our dirty washing into them, separating colours etc so when we get home its as easy as emptying a bag into machine, no sorting out.
We got a variety from Argos, home bargains and pound stretcher. Some were better than others but can't remember which, think Argos and one other we're same brand and bit thicker. They're quite fragile tho and have to watch nothing with pointy bits go near them (think one was torn putting into the car by a rounded handle on the cooker) but they worked a treat. Got huge ones to take massive king size feather duvet and some smaller. One took six pillows. Vacuumed them at home and coming home just squashed them. Not as flat coming back but we'd eaten the food we'd taken and packed the tent better so bit more room in the car anyway.
