Hey. I used Avon Skin So Soft on Sunday but got about 30 bites anyway. It's possible I simply didn't use enough but I'm looking for alternatives in any case. From what I've read it is better than nothing but it's not as effective as DEET. I don't want to use DEET because it dissolves certain plastics which could be very expensive and upsetting if it gets on the wrong clothing or equipment!
Thanks for the tip regarding Biteback products, In4apenny. I've looked around and they seem to be the cheapest option for the volume of 20% repellent you can get. They seem to be a small operation and I'm mildly allergic (by proxy via Malassezia yeast) to some of the components of neem oil so I've sent them an e-mail to ask whether it's possible to get it without the neem oil mixed in. Otherwise, I might buy it anyway and use my ointment to try to counteract the immune response - it's not like I'll be needing it often.
Edit: they got back to me really quickly and yes, I can order the repellent without neem oil added at no extra cost! :D
