Hi

We've been looking at getting a teppenyaki grill & using that for camping rather than our gas stove but we'd still need to use pans for rice,pasta, beans etc. Can you use pans on these grills?

IMHO, a big NO!

The heating element underneath is designed to heat the entire plate, and not localised areas as in electric stoves.

Therefore, trying to heat a pan on it will take a very long time, as a lot of the heat will be wasted.

Besides, IMHO, prolong heating of the large hotplate will result in buckling.

We have got the teppenyaki grill and its great for what it is, a grill. For pans and kettle an induction hob is brilliant I couldnt believe just how good it is, boils a kettle quicker than our gas stove. This is ours £30 from lidl. But after using it and seeing just how good it is, I would have no hesitation in paying more for a better make if this one goes wrong.

I will also give a very big endorsement to the Teppenyaki grill for bar b q / grilling duties and an induction hob for boiling eggs/pasta/sauces etc.

Lightweight and efficient way to go
