Can anyone advise on what we need to use gas in France?
I believe we will need to buy an Antargas (?) canister and an adapter to connect to our motorhome. Is this correct? If so, can I buy the canister in the UK and which connector do I need to get?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Several makes of French bottled gas. You will probably want 6kg size. I use Butagaz Le Cube, uses 27mm clip regulator. Other 6kg bottles are Primagaz Twinny and Antargaz Elfi, these last 2 use 20mm clip regulator. All available in butane or propane. Obviously ensure you get correct regulator as fittings are same for butane snd propane bottles.
If you want 13kg butane bottle from any of the makes, they ,conveniently use same regulator as Calor 4.5kg butane.
What is your setup now? If you have bulkhead regulator and use Calor 6kg propane, ie pol pigtails then you can get pol to 27mm clip adaptor in UK from Hamilton gas products. Then you can get Le Cube bottle in France to fit, otherwise you will have to buy regulators in France, supermkts and diy chains like Leroy Merlin stock them.
All makes available from supermkt fuel forecourts, much the same as UK you pay intial cost of bottle, anything from 9 to 27€ and then cost of gas, cheaper than UK, 17€ for Le Cube exchange. Google for websites of gas suppliers.
As stated Campingaz is available UK and France but v expensive refill, 20€ for 2.75kg. You are better setting youself up with French bottle then you have it for future use.
