Just recently purchased one of these and was wondering if instead of swapping the jockey wheel every time i use it if it was feasible to attach a tow ball to it using a jockey wheel bracket and pushing/pulling the caravan this way. Any comments welcome many thanks
I wouldnt use the jockeywheel clamp to attach a motor mover in the first place. It will probably be OK on level ground but any strain could be too much for the bracket or worse the chassis. Alko had doubt on whether the clamp would be strong enough and if the handle was used to gain extra traction it seems they were right.
Needs to be treated gently and if it loses traction then dont try to assist/improve it.
Poor traction from those types of units may prevent them being used in that situation i guess.
Yes find a way to attach a towball, the issue you need to be careful of is the unit probably needs to stay fairly close to vertical, A ball may allow too much movement.
Without it being clamped rigid it will tipping all over the place pivoting in the tow ball. You may find if you remove the A frame cover that one side of the chassis has pre punched holes to fit a side bracket,as some manufacturers use a side jockey wheel
