Ok, so I am starting to think the husky xxl or farad are too big, well too long at least...
As advised by roofbox.co.uk, with an open boot lid, measuring 200cm creates a large overhang over the front windscreen.
I am thinking the car could only cope with maybe 180cm at most....
Any suggestions,
Yep, unless you have an estate car, the Kamie Husky XXL at 200cm does need some careful consideration.
I did consider the Husky XXL purely on the basis, what will do more, will do less.
But in the end I went for the Kamei Delphin 380, which strangely is wider than the Husky XXL although the Delphin is just 158cm in length, also another concern for me was that I needed to keep the car's overall height to under 2m so that I could pass through the fast Tag Lane on the French autoroutes.
With the Delphin, the car height is just 1.97m the Husky XXL would have added 4cm.
Have a look at the photo in my gallery, the Delphin is mounted dead centre of the roof bars on the Mk6 Golf featured, this year the Delphin was used on the Mk7 Golf, which due to the different mount takes the height up by another 1cm or so.
All cars are different of course, and the roof mounts for the Golf, are quite well forward, so even with the Delphin there is some over hang at the front of the car, so I do think for me at least the Husky XXL may not have been a good choice.
We've got the Husky XXL, we got it last year and took it all the way to the Dordogne without any noticeable rise in fuel usage. We got so much in it, don't know how we survived without it to be honest. We don't want a trailer so this was the next best thing.
Fitting the bars and box first time was fun, we know what we're doing now so that helps!.
They are cheap and very long for the capacity, something you wanted to avoid as to the regard to the farad and Husky.
I have the farad f3 680 I find it is perfect for what I need it for mind you we have an Smax.
How about you measure the length of the roof of your car with the boot up to top of the windscreen, check what your roofbars would measure across and the max weight.
I have looked at loads for my trailer so I might be able to point you in the right direction.

We have the Kamei 510 (200cm) but as our boot door opens to the side there is no overhang over the windscreen.
It is dual sided opening which is really good if, like us, the roof bars stay on the car as you can reach the fastenings inside without stretching over the roof and side of the box to get to a hinged side. I stand on the side step rails to get into it) No wind noise and no impact on fuel consumption that I have noticed. It closes single handed with the locking system and if it is not properly locked it prevents you removing the key from the box.
Interestingly, with it mounted, my overall height is 2.4m but I can still sail through the French Telepeage lanes with the tag under the 2m Max warning dangly bits. Roofbox Company gave a free storage sling so it lives up in the garage roof-beams and can be walked under. At 18Kg it is light enough for me to mount and demount unaided (and I am no spring chicken or physically strong).
