New to this forum. I hope I am in the right thread etc.
My question is about leisure battery set ups. I have a control panel all set up, fused etc and linked to my leisure batteries. The control panel has two plug sockets. Now everything I want to buy for my van that is 12v has a cigarette lighter instead of a plug.
You should be able to buy plugs for the 12 volt caravan sockets. All you do is cut off the 2 x 12 volt wires from the cigarette lighter and connect them to the appropriate plugs that fit into the 12 volt sockets. I have done this with a 12 volt strip light that I sometimes use in the awning.
I totally forgot about these but agree that this type of adapter is the best solution for solving your problem. I have a couple of these in the caravan just as a stand by but totally forgot about them so please ignore my first post.
Just a word of warning
Some cigar plugs have voltage conversion circuits built in.check the output voltage first.especially phone and ipad charger leads
You don't mention what van you have, but one extra comment of caution ...
There are two different types of 12v socket, dependent on age of your van; one type has two slots that are parallel to each other and would suit the adapter in Navver's link, see example..
... while the other has the slots slightly angled, similar to ...
Make sure you double check the sockets to get the right adapter cable from your dealer.
