After some advice, looking at buying some double steps for out caravan. Which are safer/better aluminium treads or rubber treads please or is it just a case of personal preference? Many thanks
Thanks guys thought that but just wanted to make sure, unfortunately er'indoors doesn't like the plastic ones so as we take our dogs and grandson with us will probably go rubber topped. Many thanks for your advice
If you go for the double step with the four feet, the rubber/plastic feet ends will wear away and you end up with the metal sticking thru. Not good on whatever you use on your awning floor.

We bought the standard Milenco aluminium double step (before they produced the rubber platforms) which are lightweight and sturdy to see if we preferred them to the lightweight single step we had. We used the steps for about 3 years then sold them and bought exactly the same item with the rubber platform treads on which we felt more comfortable with in damp weather. The steps don't have the four feet at the base that compress into the draft skirt at the door entrance but the only disadvantage I found is if the ground is slightly uneven they can tend to rock slightly. However, to solve that problem I carry a couple of short pieces of quarter inch plywood to place under the base feet to eliminate the rock and make them stable.

Remember when sofas had small castors which dug into your carpet? People used plastic 'cups' to protect the carpet. We have 4 (charity shop find) which we use under our caravan steps. Otherwise on soft grassy sites the legs of the step do tend to sink into the ground. Our dog prefers steps with rubber, so do we when barefoot entering the van leaving wellies/crocs behind!
I do wonder why caravans do not have steps like on motorhomes. Fixed to the chassis and electrically operated. It seems like an easy idea for the manufacturers.
