I would use a high temperature paint which should be OK to use. You can get them at diy stores or halfords. Make sure you prep it by using a medium grade wet and dry sandpaper. Make sure you get rid of any old flakey paint rub it down until you get rid of all the shine from the old paint. otherwise you will be doing it again if you get the prep work wrong.
