anything that is aluminium will be fine, even those back packers tables sat on top of your normal one would do the job, in fact that would leave you with a bit extra workspace

Hi Mike
I use a slatted Ali one as shown by MrLB.......it is very stable and holds my Weber Q1000 and sometimes one of those potable single ring gas burner as well.

I take a couple of silicone mats/trivets for heat protection, much more space efficient.

We use one of these because it's heat-proof, super-quick to put up (and down), is lightweight and can be left outside.
Looks like Kampa do a shaller side version, too. Might be handy?

I do like those Lidds - we have stools along similar lines (I think smaller than the 'side' tables... they were cheaper anyway!) and are possibly my favourite bits of equipment.
Clearly there's a gap for something inbetween the backpackers' table and the Kampa ones above: with a rectangular roll-up or fold-up slatted top, and sturdy, stable legs.
Calling manufacturers... ------------- Camping - emotional resilience in action, a triumph of hope over adversity and antidote to virtual reality.
