If your car has just a single 7pin socket & your caravan has a 13pin plug then simplest is to buy a 7pin socket to 13pin plug adaptor this. This will give you road lights to allow you to tow caravan but you will have no battery charging or fridge operation on caravan.
If your car has a double 7pin 12n/12s sockets then for full operation use adaptor here.
Best way though is to fit 13pin socket to car. This is as simple as removing both 7pin sockets & wiring 13pin socket into both cables.
We have a 13 pin socket on our car that is used when the caravan is attached, we also have a medium sized trailer that had a 7 pin plug attached when purchased. I tried using an adapter on the trailer but had issues with the plug turning and becoming misaligned so instead I just bought a 13 pin plug and rewired the trailer. The best solution for you, as Opensauce says, is to buy a 13 pin socket that will enable you to fit both wires into from your original twin sockets.

Opensauce's 2nd option with two plugs and lengths of cable can be a pain because the cables hang down and drag along the road.
The solution to that problem is to pass the cable over the top of the hitch first before plugging in. That way it's impossible for the cable to drop down on to the road surface.
