Hello, sorry if this is a silly question, but what happens with the water on a fully serviced 'Euro' pitch? Hubby been looking at something called 'auto fill mains water kit for super pitch'. We are new to this and wondered if this was necessary? Do you need a hose from a tap into the aqua roll? Do you still fill the aquaroll? First time I've posted but I know you're a helpful bunch! Thanks

You can't just connect mains pressure hose to caravan system because it will spring a leak. It might be too high a pressure.

We sometimes test water taps to see if they are mains or tank fed. If we can stop the flow with a thumb over the tap it is tank fed, if not it is mains.

The mains kit converts your aquaroll into a cistern with a ball cock to maintain the level.

Your normal pump fits in the aquaroll and delivers the water into the van as if the aquaroll was used normally.

Hi Vicky, if I think what you are asking is how you connect to the pitch mains water. You are correct in that you buy a aquaroll kit that includes a hose and a float ( like a toilet ball cock) that fits into the side of your aquroll. It fills continuously until the float raises to the correct level then shuts off automatically. You connect your van water pump hose into the top as you would if just using the aquroll on its own and connect to your van accordingly.
The other alternative is you can buy a hose pipe with the connector that fits your vans water inlet and connect direct to the tap. The only advise I would give you is make sure you turn off at the tap if you are going out for the day or a long time. There have been stories were some van owners have come back to a flooded van as the internal seal or connector has failed due to water pressure.

The only way you can supply a mains water supply to your caravan is via a water barrel with a side access screw cap. The barrel stands upright with the side cap removed to which you then install a ball cock and valve which works identical to a domestic toilet systern at home. The barrel doesn't need filling as the ball cock shuts off the water supply via the valve then refills again when you open a water tap in the caravan. The kit for mains water is shown in the link below which is for shown merely for illustration purposes only.

Supplying water via a barrel is not the only way, as Scoobz mentioned in the second part of they're post.

This connects straight from tap to van, it has a built in pressure regulator to drop the water pressure to the van.

We have used this system for years and have never turned the water off at the tap and have never had seals bursting and flooding.

Hi Vicky.
There are 3 ways to get your water into your caravan.
1. You have an Aquaroll. On a fully serviced pitch you will have your own water tap actually on the pitch so without any other bits of equipment you can fill your Aquaroll and carry on as usual.
2. The pitch tap will have a normal screw thread to which you can attach the sort of clip-on fitting you would use for your garden hose. (Sometimes one is already fitted but don't rely on it !). You attach your hose to the tap and then to the stop-cock device mentioned above. This method will only work if your Aquaroll has an entry on the side.Turn on the tap and the stop-cock will turn off the water supply when the Aquaroll is half full. You use your normal pump to pump the water into the caravan.
3. Water kits are available that do not use the Aquaroll. They are basically a length of hose which connects to the tap with a pressure reducing valve on the caravan end of the hose. This plugs directly into your water inlet on the caravan and the type you buy is dependant on which type of inlet socket you have. (Some people believe this type to be potentially dangerous because they feel that high pressure water could enter the caravan system ). I have used one for many years without a problem.
Enjoy the pitch. Even if you don't buy any extra bits of kit, your water will be nearer to hand.

Direct hose to van. With built in pressure reducing valve.
Never had a problem with it.
Also use the aquaroll with the float tap at times.

Either are good. But whats the point carrying a aquaroll round to go on a full service pitch?

Looks like I'm a bit behind the times regarding this topic as my previous post was a bit vintage saying that using a ball cock and valve with Aquaroll was the only way to connect to a mains water supply. No matter how many years you've beeen caravanning you never stop learning.

My aqua roll is in the van, along with the wastemaster, for next trip, no service pitch on the farm.
But when i next book a service pitch, niether will be in the van.
Load to suit site we go to.
