Hi All

I'm thinking of buying the Coleman PerfectFlow 2 gas stove but wanted to know if I could get a different connection so it runs off the Calor Gas bottles instead of those expensive propane types.

I'm new to this site so apologies if there is a thread elsewhere about this, I did look but couldn't find anything.

I'd look at other options if I was you. The hose that you need is only on sale in the US so by the time you've paid shipping and any taxes it starts to get expensive.

People have had good luck with the hose, but the US POL connection is not identical to a UK/EU POL fitting. It does work, but I'd rather have my gas fittings matching.

The gas propane bottles are ten a penny in the states, but by the time they have landed here they are about £15 each, if you can even find them. Perfectflow is dead in the water in the UK. It's a shame as I quite like mine, but it is gathering dust in the shed and quite possibly will never be used again.

I have a coleman fyre champion, it's a great stove but go outdoors have just increased the prices of the cylinders and the recycling centre now charges for disposal. Therefore like lots of people I'm going to cut off the end where it screws into the bottle, and attach some gas hose. You can then chose either a butane or propane cylinder of your chosen size.

I have a Coleman fold n go stove. I wanted to run it from my 7kg calor butane bottle. I cut the regulator off and connected the rubber hose from my calor gas regulator onto it. Unfortunately it didn't work. Any suggestions?

I haven't cut mine yet as I have a couple of cylinders to use up. A guy I was chatting to here (see the orginal post i created) was using an adjustable propane regulator as the flow from a standard regulator wasn't enough for a fyre champion.

I read something on a US site that said the 5430 'regulator' isn't actually a regulator at all, even though it is manufactured to look like one.
The stove requires full tank pressure to operate. If you cut it off and attach gas hose via a Calor regulator you'd only be giving it 37 mbar, which just isn't enough to run the stove.

You can get 'mapp gas' on eBay, it's the CGA600 fitting and works perfectly on them.

The fyrechampion certainly doesn't require full bottle pressure. I cut the regulator off mine to extend it with flexible hose and the gas flow out of the regulator is very slow, like I expected. If you take the regulator to bits it's like a schraeder valve inside.

I took mine apart and couldn't work out how it was regulating pressure as there's no diaphragm that I can see.
I've taken the valve part out and given the rest of the regulator to a guy who has re-threaded it to 1/4" BSP for me so I can screw in a hose barb.
When I pick it up from him I'm going to attach it to a Calor bottle and see what happens.
Hopefully it will work, but I'm not banking on it.

Would this work instead? http://www.dyersonline.com/mb-sturgis-60-handwheel-pol-x-male-600-propane-adapter-hose.html
This would retain the coleman adaptor and allow it to attach to a propane cylinder. Would this work assuming the threads are correct for UK cylinders.

That's the hose which people use yeah. I've not tried it myself, but numerous people on here have and it seems to work fine.
My only issue is that the USA POL fitting isn't exactly the same size as a UK POL fitting. Using non-identical fittings in a tent with my family inside it doesn't sit well enough with me! Like I said lots of people do use it without issue.

An adapter like this might make it fit properly:

I knew about the USA version of the adapter and associated issues, I wasn't sure if one from somewhere else would be the right fitting.
