We all know the situation of being in a shower which has a push button that only last around 10 seconds, with kids screaming saying they are cold and you trying to keep the shower running whilst washing their hair!!!!!
My husband has come up with an idea of keeping the button pressed in when in a push button shower, making it easier to shower the children and yourself on campsites, gyms, swimming baths and we are just looking to see if there would be any interest in this. It is really easy to use and even the kids could use it. Has anyone else come across anything like this before? we know about shower friend.com any others floating around?????
The price would be around £6.99 plus postage any interest or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Just remembered, my wife and I were at a site near The Wash (No Pun Intended) I was in the shower block on my own, and kept pressing the button.
This was a new shower block, with a silly fire detection system. I suspect the mist affected an optical sensor that measured the intensity of light from emitter to detector, and it deduced smoke.
The power got cut off, the fire alarm sounded. I just kept still and quiet, at least 2 minutes passed before anyone entered (my wife saw them get their Hi-Vis gear first) the inspection seemed more concerned with the (Newly refurbished) building than a human still in there.
Eventually, after he opened the windows wider, the power returned, so I completed washing the soap off and got dried and dressed before exiting.
I cannot recall if anyone (apart from my wife) noticed me exit.
------------- In the beginning there was darkness.
Then I bought a tent.
I'm not destitute, I'm just poor.
Not sure if I am in the minority but I prefer showers that turn off. Get wet, shampoo while shower off, turn shower on to rinse and then repeat, then same for conditioner and washing. I always step out of the water to do all the washing bits so letting the shower keep running is a waste of water.
I never had an issue when I had to take my son in the shower either, thankfully he has been big enough to do himself for sometime now
Agree with Purplebean. I usually shower in the caravan but wherever it is it is wet, off and soap, rinse, off and dry.
I do sometimes wonder why people use the on site showers if you have a caravan. Surely much easier to shower in the van.

We dont use our caravan shower as it isnt lined and I dont trust the "waterproof" wall paper. It is also integral to the toilet and everything would have to be emptird out or get soaked. Our seasonal site has push button showers and I am all for them. Anything that reduces the use of water is a good thing to my mind and its no hardship to push a button a few times.
I remember when mine were little. We bought one of those big buckets with handles on. We used to half fill it with water which was usually luke warm being in Spain and we then added 2 kettlefuls of boiling water and some bubble bath and in they went one at a time. They loved it. I then went and enjoyed my shower in the shower block.
I bathed in a large yellow builders' bucket for about 12 months whilst my OH 'did' the bathroom, washing my hair in the sink.Pressing a button on a shower seems a luxury in comparison.
I'm with the posts on soaping whilst 'off' and saving water. (Honestly, I don't know what some people DO in showers for so long when there isn't such a limiter involved. I'm often in and out before someone who's been in, before I arrive. ?????? )
------------- Camping - emotional resilience in action, a triumph of hope over adversity and antidote to virtual reality.
Not too fussed about push button showers. Even if you only get 5 seconds, it's no biggy to push again and again as required. I too leave it off whilst shampooing hair/soaping up.
What does really annoy me though, are push taps, that go off as soon as you let go!!
So the options are, wash one-handed, which as well as being impractical, also means I'm in constant touch with the tap with a dirty hand, whilst I get at least one hand clean first! The other option is to hold the tap and fill the wash basin... but being a little OCD, even the cleanest looking basin will get a thorough rinse from me first, so not only am I using much more water than I need, I'm also rubbing my hands all over the basin and the taps... and remember folks... I've just come out of the bog!!
Just give us taps that deliver at least 10 seconds worth of water, to at least give us a chance!! If you insist on saving water, get a shower head type rather than gushing water!
Next week's rant... cold hand driers in the winter!!
...And the week after... Cheap/weak paper towels that are packed so tightly in the dispenser, it is impossible to pull out more than one square inch of soggy paper towel because it keeps bloody ripping!!

why would anyone pump water into a caravan that could do damage to it ? i.e. damp when you are paying to use facilities on site, and as i am 6ft 4 tall shower in caravan is not big enough
