I've just bought a portable BQ and need a propane gas bottle. How much are these to buy and fill and can anybody recommend a supplier in the North east.

I have just purchased a second 6kgs propane Calor Gas cylinder. It costs £24 for the hire of the cylinder and about £12 for the gas. A lot of people suggest you try your local amenity site as they often have cylinders they are happy to sell. Unfortunately here in MK they won't do that, hence the £24!!!
Hi camBB where abouts in the North East are you as for dealers for gas they are everywhere the best place to get them is the local amenity sites as David said. You can get a refill just about anywhere from garages to caravan dealers

Why not get butane - it's cheaper. The empty bottles can usually be found at the local car boot & then you only have to pay for a refill. Our Council Tip won't let you have them either, although I've been told the one in Telford will.
You only need propane if you're going to be using it in very cold weather.

as well as tips - have a look around local areas that get flytipped (not pleasant but free) - there's usually a few knocking around in places like that!
Also if you live in an area where gipsies like to set up illegal camps they usually dump loads when they move on - you'll be helping clean up if you take them away!
