Hi i have a cabanon athena frame tent that waa given to us a few years ago .
Been stored in a shed that had had a leak in and got tent out today to put up for the first time. It has a few holes in one area on back of tent near the top but rest seams sound.
Is there a way i can patch holes if so what would be the best way. ?
Hi ButtonO - you have been gifted a fab tent which hopefully you'll soon find out for yourself.
The canvas can be patched, but do a bit of searching on here to find out posts on mending holes and tears in cotton canvas. These tents were 'big' on here a few years back so you will probably find lots of great advice.
Alternatively, hunt for I think, Tent Valeting Services, a company specialising in... valeting/mending tents... or perhaps a sailmaking company if you're near the coast could do this for you.
Check the tent bags too, you may find some spare canvas in there, to effect a repair. I can't remember whether you need to sew or glue a patch but, if you're keen on repairing it, do some research as it should be worth doing.
I adore our Cabanon, I can put the 6-berth on my own, and love the sturdiness and airiness of the frame and cotton fabric. They're so colourful too.
Sorry I can't give you instructions per se but, if I had a similar issue, what I've suggested would be my
first recourse.
Oh, Esvo in the Netherlands (UK web translation) has lots of canvas etc to effect DIY repairs or projects. Great service too, should you wish to go down that route.
Let us know how you get on.
