had my Kipor ig2000 genie for 3-4 years and been trouble free and used most weekends. This weekend it cut out on me a few times then would only start and run on choke and stall soon as i slid it off choke, i found tapping on the float bowl several times with a screwdriver would cure it and it would be fine after that. Happened twice in about 5 hours. Im thinking the float may be sticking ? tempted to just buy a whole new carb as only £45 but are they easy to change on these ? dont really fancy having to remove the full casing from the gennie as bet its tricky getting it back on..
Is there a fuel filter that sometimes gets blocked? I had that problem with a strimmer that had a fuel filter suspended in the tank on the end of a flexible fuel line, every time it stopped I had to shake it to clear the filter and restart it, possibly the tapping is clearing a similar blockage.
thanks, theses a filter in the top of the filler that filters the fuel as its poured in but not one inline that i can see. think i need to remove the carb and give it a good clean out
There will most likely be a removable air filter that's clogged up and restricting the flow of air thus the need to use the choke to gain more fuel. It could be a paper filter or the type that's smeared in oil which just needs cleaning in a degreasing agent and resurfacing with fresh oil.
Try removing the filter first to see if it cures the problem.
