Hi fellow campers what lighting do you use for camping fed up with the cheap mass produced lanterns that start out good then start failing so was was toying with idea of getting somthing to plug in or if such a thing now days a decent lantern
We use headtorches and for ehu we have a mains garage work light. I am currently awaiting delivery of a little case that will turn my petzl into a lantern and protect it in transit.
The LE Lantern although brighter uses a similiar but smaller design body, to that of the Outwell Carnelian.
We use a couple of the Outwell 400LX lanterns, which have the same body as the Carnelian.
The larger body allows for 6 x "D" Cells to be used instead of 3.
So run time on the Carnelian will be awesome, as it is with our 400LX, which we run on Aldi/Lidl rechargeable batteries.
To my mind, if I was in the market for a lantern today, I would be looking for somthing like the Carnelian, but a model that can accept lithium ion Cells, either 18650 or 2170 form, sadly such a lantern does not exist as yet.
The Streamlight Super Siege 1,100 lumens at first glance, appears to be a great solution, although like the LE has quite a small body and lense, and the lithium ion cell pack is quite small, run time at full tilt is just 5 hours.

The Outwell Castor (for when on EHU) is a simple, straightforward, durable, compact light at a reasonable price.They have long leads (about 5m I think) and a carabiner clip to hang them up. We have a couple and find them very useful bits of kit.
I use the 300 lumen version of the LE Lantern and it is very good. Lights my 5 man tent with no problem. I would imagine the 1000 lumen one is fantastic here
If you are on electric hook up you can use anything you want such as a table lamp or a mechanics inspection lamp, or make one up yourself with a length of cable and a lamp holder...whatever rocks your boat.
