Guys may I ask for a bit of help please.
My tow car has been written off and I have decided to sell all our camping gear including the trailer (brenderup 1205 with lockable hardtop/ jockey wheel and new spare with two heavy duty wheel clamps).

I have no idea where to start. Life has been a bit fraught lately and the thought of trying to find prices and list everything is so daunting! The brenderup is jam packed with everything a family could need!

Where do you start?

Hello,

From your post it is obvious that things have not been going well for you lately (says he lying on a sofa after a double hernia operation).

Without a list of the items you have, it is very difficult to provide any assistance.

Three things occur to me.

1. The brief nature of your post suggests that this may be a knee jerk reaction to what else is going on.

2. The price you will obtain for the full outfit will likely be a fraction of what you paid for it.

3.You may ultimately regret your decision to sell once things settle down a bit.

My advise is, that unless finances have forced this upon you then I would wait a while.

If you do decide to sell then I would use the Free adverts section above and list the items there to start.

Good luck whatever you decide.

Seems like you have had a run of bad luck of late, that will change for sure, and you will have no problem selling that trailer, as it won't be just campers interested in buying it.

The majority of folk that go camping, don't or can't tow, so I would not bother trying to sell as a complete package, unless the opportunity arises.

List the tent and trailer separately.

All the accessories like the cooker and other bits, I would do a car boot with those, in fact I got my CampingGaz Chef from a car boot, brand new in the box c/w hose and regulator, it had never been used £20 bargain.

This is definitely the right time to be selling camping kit, you should soon be able to turn it all into a nice pot of cash.

Thanks guys
It is definitely not a knee-jerk reaction. I have waited almost a year before deciding that actually we aren’t going to be able to go camping again. Losing the tow car just put the last nail in the coffin!
Healths declining / getting older / weather / working /life; its all getting in the way and isn’t likely to improve enough to allow regular usage?
So - steer clear of eBay?
List here and Shpock perhaps?
List everything separately? (Dreading going through it all, it will take days!)
How do you price stuff? I don’t know where to begin? How do you factor in depreciation?
I don’t want to start advertising on eBay with a 99p start. Similarly I don’t want to ask so much that it doesn’t sell?
I have a 2013 outwell Montana 6p plus enclosed awning and carpets.
Wardrobes / cupboards / larders / flameproof Calor gas hob, fridge, sleeping bags, air beds, tables, chairs, games.
It feels like a mountain right now, I have to start somewhere though?
Oh - how do I value a trailer? I’m rubbish with cars etc? I was thinking maybe 550/600. Not sure if that’s too much though?

Sorry to hear you are packing up. Have a look on ebay for prices of completed listings for items similar to yours. I'd steer clear of ebay unless you can wait to list on a £1 final fee listing or similar or it'll cost a fortune in fees.

Personally, I'd try gumtree or FB or whatever with just the big stuff - tent bundle, trailer etc. Once you have got someone to come and view, try to get them interested in your other gear too and make several sales from 1 item. (a bit like when you srap a car for parts).
Good luck.

You could start on free listing on Gumtree at a decent price of your choosing ...

You will probably get people contacting you and asking what you will accept ...

You can then 'dicker' as much as you like ...

You can list on UKCampsite as well ... asking for offers (but not silly ones)

In either case, you will need photos (maybe you have some of your camping set up? ... or just the trailer, then open it up and pic everything loaded ... and, if you have the time/energy ... spread it all out and picture the lot with a 'main list' of major items ...

Thanks guys.
It’s all up on eBay [i got the £1 final value selling fee offer].

Within five minutes of being listed the brenderup sold.

I have the tent, awning, footprint, carpet, mats etc up at a start of 149 with a buy it now of 295 you don’t think that’s unreasonable do you?

Thanks for the help and encouragement.

Lisa
