Hello all. Hoping to go to Beadnell in August. Need to find a place nearby to top up my Safefill bottle, just in case. Anyone know of any in the vicinity. Safefill website doesn't appear to provide a list of national fill up stations, all a bit vague. Thanks Eric.
Also try Google searching for 'Autogas' or 'LPG' filling stations.
From what others say, there doesn't appear to be a complete list of filling stations, so it's a case of trying multiple search/listing sources to find the most convenient.
Wow, been looking into the SafeFill system, even for a moderate user of gas it makes a lot of sense, the 5kg cylinder would be ideal for tent campers even, OK you got to pay £150 for the empty cylinder but at around £5 to fill it, you would soon recoup your investment, the same amount of CampinGaz would cost £70!! and even Calor etc would be around £25.
Complete no brainer me thinks, or am I missing something.
For anybody going camping, even just a couple of times a year, complete overkill.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!

Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Yep, but as others have already mentioned, SafeFill is a slight overkill for my requirements, but I love the concept, although the pricing needs to be about half what it is for the SafeFill cylinders, but I guess enough punters are willing to cough up the £150+ required, seems a lot of money for an empty cylinder to me, despite the long term benefits.
I will be sticking to my original plan, of going for two 6kg Butagaz Le Cube Butane cylinders, in fact I picked up a Le Cube last week for 99p, albeit the Propane version, which I am aiming to exchange for a Butane Le Cube, all work in progress along with acquiring a Le Cube Butane 27mm regulator.
With a bit of luck, I will sort it out when in France June next year,
sorry to drag up an old post, but with the problems that have come regarding calor bottles we re seriously considering changing over to a refillable bottle of one sort or another, safefill seem to be the most popular type to use?
so now just trying to do the figures to see if its cot effective or not, has anyone done such a list to work out how long a 10kg bottle would last if on safefill compared to the equivalent calor bottle?
the last 12 months has seen us increase our use of rallies and not just for the summer months either, so it would make sense to use a refillable bottle i would have thought? and would hopefully stop the situation we found ourselves in this weekend of travelling around for 2 hours and being unsuccessful in getting hold of a full bottle. they never run out during opening hours do they? and despite being next to a camc site and also travelling to a c&cc club site neither sold gas which i find rather odd
We've had a 10kg Safefill for a few years now and swear by it.
Spring and Autumn when using the heating a fair bit the bottle lasts on average around 8 days.
In Summer that goes out to around 12 days.
Refilling is straightforward and a lot cheaper than any of the exchange cylinders. Our local filling point currently charges 99p a litre. Even from completely empty that's less than £20 to fill and no need to wait for it to run out before topping up.
Although quite a few places are taking out their LPG pumps we've always been able to get it filled within a reasonable distance.

Are you off grid with what seems to me high consumption?

so we are currently using the calor propane bottles, what do the safefill ones use to connect up to a bulkhead regulator

Thanks, were there no caravan dealers around there? We had the same near Lincoln but knew there was a dealer nearby.
oh silly me, i thought you meant where am i located? no we where near thirsk on a rally at the racecourse, it was around 6.30 pm when we ran out and the temp was going to be around 2 degrees overnight so had to sort something out as we had our small grandkids with us. i tried everywhere i could think of that sold them and like i said i even tried the camping and caravanning club site down at boroughbridge to be told they stopped selling them due to "COVID"! now that has got to be one hellish weird reason to stop selling them? same at the caravan club site on the racecourse too. in the end we had a tiny bit of gas left in the spare lightweight bottle enough to do some warm drinks before bed and hubby shot up at 7 am and went off to a petrol station 5 miles away that sold them.
told the kids not to tell mummy, but put them to bed in their dirty but warm clothes!
