I had the original HP version, and found it is good when the temperature is not too cold, as butane does not burn well at temperatures around 4 degC or below, so no good with camping in the colder months.
Hence I bought a Coleman 2-burner Dual Fuel stove instead.
Also, it is not that good as a BBQ, and the grill pan is not easy to clean. When I saw the new grill pan, I groaned as it may be even more difficult to clean than the original version!
If one is getting the LP version and intend to camp during the colder months, then use propane and not butane to avoid disappointment.

We dithered for a long time about getting one. Mainly because I don't eat meat so we don't barbecue very much. We didn't see the point. However last year we got one to take to France and it is amazing. Positives are it's very compact very easy to set up, uses surprisingly little gas (Campingaz), heats up very quickly, cooks evenly and is much more controllable than a charcoal BBQ. The kids love crepes cooked on it too. Downsides? Only one really, its a bit of a sod to clean however hot water and a bit of elbow grease gets the job done. Although it doesn't have a large diameter, we can cook a meal for four as long as we don't expect all the food at once.
We use it a lot more than we thought we would. It's not quite the same as a charcoal BBQ however this is no surprise. Hope this helps.
Its like when you have a caravan you walk into the the accessories shop and walk out without buying anything, yea right, never happens. The cadac chef is one of the best BBQs we have had, its a bit more than a bbq, breakfast is done on it, now pizzas are done on it. Brilliant bit of kit imho. P.S. I still take a small charcoal bbq with us.
We had a couple of Carri Chefs over the years when the kids were with us, due to the large cooking surfaces. They were beasts to transport and a faff to assemble for short stays but useful for their cooking capacity.Got a Safari Chef when we started camping as a couple as it seemed like a logical progression.
We used it on one holiday then got rid. It was too low to use on the ground without crouching over it and too high on a heatproof table. It didn't do anything my griddle pan and Remoska can't do better and it was an utter pig to clean (to be fair, the Carri Chef was also a pig to clean, until we invested in a skottel liner).
I haven't seen the Safari Chef 2 so can't comment on whether it's an improvement on the original.
We have had one for 2 years now and love it, we use it all year round in all weathers and love it. If you pour water into the outer ring of the pan when barbiquing it is a lot easier to clean.

did that and ended up with hot fat from the burgers spitting out all over me ...
As previously posted - they are good little bbq but a proper pain in the arse to clean

No sorry to disappoint, no hot fat spits from anywhere!! With water in the bottom just makes it a lot easier to clean.
As I said we use ours all year round, it saves cooking smells in the van. The small screw on gas cylinders last about 5 hours.

Other bbqs are available, but we like the Cadac.
