What people don't seem to realise is that the problem is not that the unwound reel will suddenly burst into flames but that damage will occur over a period of time.
If left unwound the reel will get slightly hot and the plastic insulation will gradually become brittle and degrade. You cannot see what is happening until one night the flames will catch the corner of your caravan under which you have carefuĺly tucked the reel.
So, if anyone wishes to leave their cable coiled up, could they please post which site they are on so I can avoid them.

We’ve always unwound it completely and I think that’s why was looking for rewind solution. Some of our cables are 25 m long... a lot of cable to rewind! This exercise has made OH look at all his cables and decide just exactly how many he needs!!

Various weekends, weather and time permitting
April - Yorkshire and Yorkshire
June - Wiltshire and Oxfordshire
Autumn - North and Scotland
I already have a 25m extension lead that I had only used once or twice with my 15m EHU kit when I was placed in pitches away from the EHU supply.
I have bought one extension cable each in 5m and 10m in readiness for camping in my van. Hopefully, this should cover all eventualities as I don't fancy unwinding and winding a 25m cable when a 10m will do.
