We camped for 3.5 weeks last summer in 4 sites. Two had no facilities, 1 had toilet only and the other was fully open.
We already had a loo for night wees, but purchased a small utility tent similar to this style.

It has a shower type shelf at the top and the floor has mesh around the perimeter. It was an excellent buy, as it was a bit bigger than cheaper pop up tents and we felt we could use it as a storage tent in the future if not needed for loo and showers. Very easy to put up and sturdy.
We also bought a colapz USB shower kit and folding bucket, and a cheap blow up paddling pool.
We pitched the shower tent on out pitch, and every 2 days moved it slightly so that the ground would have a chance to dry out. We also used the paddling pool to collect the majority of the grey water, and was mindful of not going OTT on the soap etc. We did dispose of this carefully in the hedge, spreading the water out where possible. I didn't think that this was that much different to when we were encouraged to use the excess washing up water to water plants during droughts.
The hardest bit it definitely getting enough water. We only had 5l water carriers so that was a little like living in Victorian times. We stored it in the 20l container, and then added a kettle of boiling to make it ambient. We placed a camping chair just outside the door, leaving clothes on there. It's good to place the door as privately as you can, rather than facing the site. Oh, and tuck the loo roll somewhere safe so it doesn't get soaked! I bought a cheap hanging pocket from Amazon for soap/glasses etc and also a fancy loo roll holder
I am off the ilk that a strip wash is much easier, but DH is a shower buff and it made the holiday quite fun- we are pleased to be a bit more self sufficient. We were also away in the heatwave and it was nice to have a cool run of water after a humid day (there were quite a few days when we didn't add a kettle of water).
So yes- a bit basic, but we got our camping fix and are prepared to do it all again this summer if it means we get away.
I bought a toilet tent last year but apart from putting it up in the park I haven't used it. It actually blew down while I was putting it up. It has only a tent peg at each corner and no guylines.
Am thinking about getting clingons to guy and peg the tent down before I actually use it.
