The 4.5kg bottle in my campervan started leaking the other day, gas alarm went off as soon as it was turned on at the bottle
Using a handheld gas detector pen showed the leak was from the bottle end of the pigtail not the bulkhead regulator so first instinct was to change the washer in the pigtail but made no difference
Swapped the bottle for my spare and problem solved. Found this post and checked the reference numbers as outlined above and it was one of the faulty ones!
Registered it on the Calor site and they rang me a few days later. They want to collect the faulty bottle and give me a "voucher" which I can swap for a new bottle.
Unfortunately apparently though they have no bottles in stock now or for the foreseeable future, so in the meantime I'd have no spare bottle if the current one runs out, just a voucher!
Crazy. My local garden machinery centre up the road has lots of bottles ready to swap but according to Calor they're not in the list of outlets taking part in the recall , so I can't use the voucher there.
Calor are now apparently looking for a bottle for me and will call me back "at some point"
Frustrating and odd situation. I would have thought a calor retailer was a calor retailer...... But it appears not
Tempted to just cut my losses and swap the faulty one for a refill and swallow the £20 cost. Don't want to get stuck somewhere with an empty bottle at the most inconvenient time, with no spare ( I always carry a full spare ) as bound to run out when I'm in the sticks somewhere!
