Hi, I have a 2008 Bailey Ranger 620 and as I bought it as a cheap secondhand van, to try out caravaning for our first year, it has a number of issues. I have just reviewed the Whale Aquasource Mains Water Hook Up which the description suggests negates the need for water carriers and won’t drain your battery. It also says not too worry about the water pressure at the site 'as pressure will be regulated to a nominal 1.5 bar (1.8 bar max). It is suitable for both microswitch and pressure switch systems'.
I wondered if anyone had experience of this item and it woulds prevent a new pump and aqua roll
Not the Whale system but the Truma Ultraflow Waterline, same thing different t-shirt.
Never had an issue with it and have been using for years.
I think you will still need a pump and aquaroll for the times when you are not on a serviced pitch. I know I do.
------------- XVI yes?

yes we have that one and carry it with us permanently, as im the head water collector due to no kids with us! i live in hope we might get a pitch close enough to use it! i did have 32 inch long legs before we starting caravanning, they are now 29 inch! as you can tell it doesnt get used that often as we tour rather than be on a permanent pitch where it would be of more use, consequently we always have our aqua rolls and the pump with us.
Excellent device but as Blueexpo says, not all sites have serviced pitches.
I expect you will get those on here who say they are unsafe but I have been using similar for many years without a problem.
The only minor downside is getting the water out of the pipe when you are packing up.

I agree with what others have said. Not having a water carrier of some sort and a submersible pump will severely restrict where you can go. Not all sites have individual water pipes, and those that do normally charge a premium price for a "fully serviced pitch". I have only ever been on one site where nearly all the pitches were fully serviced. The prices were very reasonable too, but that is very unusual. Most sites have stand-pipes that are shared between a number of units, so you would not be able to make a permanent connection to your caravan.
We use ours but only if the MH is on a pitch with a tap that we can attach to. On most sites (but not all) that facility costs more. (At Aberlour all the pitches have water, even the grass pitches for tents.) It tops up our on-board tank - running a while until the tank is full, then just when we run a tap. I guess with a caravan it only pumps while a tap is open.
As has been said, not all sites have pitches with water taps, especially CSs & CLs. I’d say a water roll is still needed, but maybe not on every trip unless you’re limiting yourself to particular sites.
I think you will be severely restricted from your choice of sites as you will only have water if on a fully serviced pitch. And I fear you will have to pay through the nose for the privilege.
A Ranger 620 is 6 berth which suggests you will have children in your party so will also be limited to school holiday times when all sites are full to the gunnels. There will be times when you might not even get an electric pitch let alone fully serviced.
There really isn't a problem with having water and waste containers and a pump. It's what most of us have always done and will continue to do so. You meet many friends around the tap.
Then you also want to look up the connected pipe work to take your grey water (showers & dishes) straight to the drain on your pitch. Otherwise you need a canister to wheel it away when it’s full.
