we have a single plate that we use, but its not an induction one, which means i can still carry on using the same pans i would use of the gas rings! mine cost me £5 about 15 years ago brand new. would i pay out £99 for the double? nope no chance because dont forget the cost of the pans arent cheap either

We use an induction hob at times when we have ehu ( if you are paying for electric you might as well get your monies' worth.)
Providing your pans are compatible, it is a good clean way of cooking.
The Winfield hob seems very expensive Try IKEA
Thanks for the heads-up on the ikea one
Will it run just fine on a CS EHU ?

Thanks Marg, fortunately we have a Bosch induction hob at home so have all the pans.
Quick tip for anyone, just put a magnet on the bottom of your pans, if it sticks then perfect for induction hobs.
I spent a lot more on a 2-burner induction hob by Thetford that is designed for the RV market when I was designing and spec'ing for my van back in 2020.
I kicked myself now as both Vango and Outdoor Revolution have brought out lower wattage 2-burner hobs for camping use at a fraction of the price of what I paid for the Thetford hob.
I shall console myself that my Thetford hob has higher power output that is better for higher heat form of cooking like stir-frying!
I did not have an induction hob when I was a tenter, for the reason that I had a kettle and used a fan heater, and did not wish to keep remember to switch one or the other off to avoid tripping the EHU.

I've actually learned so well to cook whole meals with just the one induction hob, so now - quite ridiculously really - I perch that on tip of my Rangemaster 5 burner gas stove at home and will use it to cook almost every dish. It's amazingly controllable and efficient and so easy to just wipe clean.

However if sites start installing meters for pitches then an induction plate maybe cheaper to use than gas. However most of us as you say will probably be required to change our current pots. We have the Tefal Ingenio Essential Non-Stick Pots and Pans Set as they save space. No idea if there is a replacement for them for induction.
We’ve got an IKEA single ring induction hob. There are 9 power settings and the instructions tell you what wattage each setting relates to. We use it at home with a hob top kettle to use with solar panels. Run it a bit slower if there’s less sun.

I lusted after some Tefal Ingenio pots and pans ever since I saw them in person in a large department store in Paris over 10 years ago, and finally got some when I decided to have an induction hob in my van.
Can't recommend them highly enough.

Our Tefal Ingenio cannot be used on an induction hob. Otherwise they are excellent.

I use mine for my pop up kitchen events too, hence they need to be induction compatible as I don't want to use gas of any type indoors.
