We used to have a 3 mifi device which was great .......however it’s much easier just to use your mobile phone as your personal hotspot ......if you have a phone that supports it. Much less hassle, no need for separate device, account or another sim. The key is to agree a decent data package with your provider.
I use my hotspot every time we are away for tv streaming, music, surfing etc it’s great and you can allow others to join your hotspot too.
As above personal hotspot is definitely the way to go, I pay 3 mobile 20 pm for unlimited WiFi with hotspot some WiFi doesn't allow hotspot so make sure, best call your mobile provider and work out a deal for what you want and need
I have a mifi router from 3 for £22 per month and it's excellent. We have a smart tv in our tourer and watch Netflix and Prime plus terrestial channels through our status. We don't need a large data package and we're very happy with it.
I gave up using a dongle years ago, as said, tethering to your mobile phone is the way to go. No extra monthly contract and uses your phone data which should be cheaper to alter than running two separate data accounts.

Another vote here for just using your phone. You can get unlimited data and tethering on your phone for less than £20 per month now, so no point in paying for a phone and a WiFi dongle.

I had used my phone (EE) as a hot spot and a Huawei Category 6 dongle with a 3 data SIM as a dedicated wi-fi dongle.
They worked fine when the mobile signal was good.
However, I discovered there were still areas where there is poor to no 4G signal, like campsite in or near forests.
In addition, I am using the router using a metal box that is my van which blocks out some of the signal.
Hence I spent a small fortune to have the latest technology installed on my van from motorhomewifi.com, so that my van is truly for work, rest and play.
The external 5G antenna was able to pick up 5G signals when my phone couldn't, and I am very happy with its performance so far.
It is a personal choice to be able to stay well-connected while I am out and about in my van for work, and I held back from getting an external antenna for a year to see if I could cope without it (I couldn't).

I use a Vodafone dongle Huawei E5330 I unlocked it and I buy a sim just before we go away in the caravan which is about once a month from May to October, as I don't use a lot of mobile data at home I find it more cost effective to buy a sim either for 30 days or 90 days than pay £20 plus for a phone contract, and my wife also can use it, currently have an EE 5gb which cost £6.79 off eBay

Man those monthly fees are expensive. Think there was one there that was over £40 a month for a miserly 100gb.. I have a phone contract with them for £21 a month which includes free Uk calls and comes with 160GB of data that I can hotspot.
