Can anyone tell me if i buy a camping gas cylinder in France can i bring it back to the UK without any problems or is there anything i need to declare to customs etc. I do not want to be breaking any laws
Campingaz is readily available in France mostly in supermarkets.
No issues with bringing it back. No need to declare it.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Just three comments
1. Make sure it is securely fixed in the boot. Remember if you hit something the cylinder will travel forward AND upwards and take off the driver's or passenger's head!
2. The car boot is not well ventilated. LPG is heavier than air so any leakage will build up in the boot. Suggest you don't smoke when opening the lid,
3. You may have difficulty sourcing the correct adaptor/regulator in UK unless you mean 'CampingGaz' which are readily available.
Otherwise, as above, there are no import problems.

Although Campingaz is readily available in France it can still be hard to find. If you are down to the dregs of your cylinder it may be easier to get a refill before you leave home than to spend your holiday trawling through garages, DIY superstores and hypermarkets looking for gas.
In France you will find Campingaz cylinders in the major supermarkets inside the shop in the leisure section unlike the French bottles which are on the fuel forecourt. Usually you need to leave your empty bottle at reception as you enter supermarket & get a receipt. Then collect bottle inside shop & pay showing empty receipt at checkout so you are only charged for bottle contents. Last yr about 21€ which is much cheaper than exchange in UK.
