Having opened the case of my portable Clarke 1200 to find out why it wouldn't start, I noticed that the output pipe from the priming bubble was floating in mid air! I can't see where it should be connected. Any ideas? Thanks
The output tube should be attached to the carburettor fuel inlet. The priming bulbs are usually a part of the carburettor, but no reason why it couldn't be remote on a fully encased generator to aid access, in which case the carburettor will be found behind the air filter.
What sometimes happens is that the tube gets hard and brittle with time/exposure to petrol, and snaps off from the inlet/outlet stub rather than simply slipping off. In that case you will need a new tube, as 1) it will be too brittle to reuse, 2) it'll likely to too short to reconnect.
I couldn't find any diagrams showing the internals of your generator, so can't do more than give general guidance.
Thanks, really appreciate you help. I took another closer look and it seems the bulb draws the fuel up into the carb rather than pumps to it.. I also took out the carb and could not see any Missing connections. I reassembled and it started so I am now assuming that the output from the bulb is an air vent as the fuel has already been pulled up through the carb. Make sense? Cheers
