hi, i have recently broken another folding chair. this one was supposedly heavy duty but it was cheap.
does anyone have actual first hand experience of a folding camping chair that will comfortably sit a big man and last a while. at least more than 2 nights anyway!
i dont mind spending a bit because one good one has to be cheaper in the long run than several broken ones anyway! but i dont want to spend a fortune or get ripped off
I have an Oztent King Goanna - really comfortable, excellent design, relatively small pack size and a proper steel frame. Their range has increased since I got mine. Highly recommend.
I have had a pair of Sunncamp 'beer chairs' for probably 20 years now. Got them probably before stuff was 'cheaply made' - cheap, ironically, from a sports/camping shop where a customer worked. The customers husband recommended them as he was sat in one as i worked on his garden. He was 6'4" and 20 stone if he was an ounce. Seven quid the pair! Bargain of a lifetime. Never seen anything close in quality since.
We went to a few shops yesterday, trying out chairs. The most comfortable of the larger options was, in my opinion, the Westfield (Quest) Alicante Chair Extra Large, at GoOutdoors. Not cheap, at £155, but there's 15% off at the moment (using code 15APR22.
Edited to say: i guess you should check out the weight capacity as well as the dimensions of a chair. The Alicante XL holds up to 140kg.

We also have these...Great chairs. However I had one of those carp chairs a few years ago. That was the best ever....Dont ask me why I didn't replace with those!!!
If you are fairly tall then I recommend the Nash Daddy Long Legs fishing chair, pricey but the most comfortable one I have owned and I have had quite a few!
If you don't need the extra height the rest of Nash chairs are good.
Be aware that some makes have a support bar across the front of the seat and after a while can dig into the back of your legs.

Fishing chairs are bulky, so make sure you have room to carry them. And they're low, so not really useful for sitting at a table.
It's difficult to find one camping chair that will do for everything
We've previously used chairs for dining and Lafuma recliners for relaxing, but space is at a premium this year so we're having to re-think.
We got a pair of Kampa moon chairs a few years ago, not sure if they still make them.
But with out a doubt the best camping chair i have ever had.
Not lightweight but very comfy and neither me or my wife will ever win a slimmer of the year contest !
Not necessarily suggesting the chair style for you, more a heads up to consider what happens when a chair 'settles' with use. I've got a couple of 'Director' style chairs with the flip up side table, which were certainly not budget ones, they were very comfortable when new, but now a year or two down the line, I find the seat fabric has eased a little with use and my lower outer thighs now rest on the diagonal frame tubes, which is certainly not that comfortable. So point being, don't just accept that a chair is comfortable when new and will stay that way, but try and consider 'where and how' it may become less comfortable when the fabric/padding has 'eased' with use, I'm certainly not suggesting 'knackered/worn out stage, just a little giving of the more pliable elements. For my chairs, a cushion will resolve the issue, so not a case of just binning a couple of moderately expensive chairs, as in all other respects I really like them, and they are lightweight and stow perfectly in one of the caravan cupboards.
TBF, it's a problem I've found many a time on even domestic furniture, taut fabric and plump padding give and the hard structure becomes apparent, and price doesn't necessarily eliminate it, it's design that dictates whether or not it happens.
