I use some of those foam squares under the airbed and a woolen blanket on top. My daughter doesn't like sleeping bags so uses a duvet but never complains of the cold.

Foam bedroll on top of the airbed. The air in the airbed gets cold at night so you need to insulate between yourself and the airbed.
Agreed to a certain extent, but it's best to put any insulation underneath the airbed.

Airbeds are cold period. They mould as well and I hate them and then sometimes you wake up in the middle of the night, deflated on a hard floor. Worst overused camping item ever..
This suggestion of a self inflating mattress is the best idea in my experience though I would highly recommend you spend big on this to get the best experience.
