Hi folks

My wife and her mate went camping in our Outwell Avondale 5pa last weekend, but they had terrible trouble inflating the beams. It seemed that they'd start OK but only take so much pressure before air started leaking back through the tube.

It was weird because the tent had been used just twice previously with no issues. In the end a fellow camper with an Avondale used their pump and it went up dead easy.

When she got home we started looking at it in more detail, and by comparing a picture on the Avondale website with our pump it appears that the inflation tube is missing this small orange seal bit as indicated.
We've no idea how this has got lost , maybe it's not attached well and slipped off, or maybe the dog ate it. Who knows.

I've contacted Outwell via their website but they say it may be 7 days before they reply.
DOes anyone out there in campsite.co.uk-land have an OUtwell Cyclone pump that they can look at and confirm that this bit is present on yours? And better still, could you measure it and give me an idea of what it;s made of? I guess some sort of rubber or hard yet yielding plastic.
I am keen on just finding a washer to suit but I'm mildly worried about it not being able to take the pressure when we're inflating the beams. I reckon I can estimate the width fairly well from that pic.
We don't really want to buy a whole new pump for the sake of a small missing part but that might be on the cards, especially we we're camping on Thursday.

Cheers!

Phil

Just thought I'd update in case anyone has the same issue. Three solutions:

1. The little valve covers on strings actually seal and have the same seal part so if you were stuck you could use one of those.

2. I used a rubber washer from my plumbing bits and pieces box which had the same internal diameter and I just needed to nibble down the external diameter with some snips. This is what I did in the end and it worked perfectly.

3. Outwell replied to my query in 4 days and shipped a new seal to me for free which was a nice surprise and great customer service.

Great news Phil.

Good to hear Customer Services are quick! We've just bought a Outwell Parkdale 4A airbeam which has the same pump but we had a spare black washer in a bag too; will keep them safe!

Happy camping!!

Sue
