We are looking at buying a mains hookup for our tent and just dont know where to start. It seems that you can buy for as cheap as £10.99 on ebay right up to £100. Ones with RCD ones without??
Basically, what does it all mean? Do sites have requirements that these leads must meet? Can anyone recommend a good one thats not really expensive?
hi a RCD is a RESIDUAL CURRENT DEVICE this is what you want it cuts off the electic supply if there is a fault it protcts against electric shock and overload of the circuit, im not sure of prices but someone will tell you' theres always help on this site. hope that helps, not very good at explaining things.
You`re looking at £50-70 for a decent quality EHU with RCD. That will give you three sockets normally, and peace of mind. No electrical equipment is totally safe of course, even in the home, but it`s worth paying for as much safety as money can buy when you`ve got electrics in a damp tent in a rainy field, no?
