on our Lunar, last few trips there has been water running from the unit screwed onto the van side, took it off to see if there was a break in the water pipes, all sound, ran the water pump, water still seeping out, but noticed it was actually at the filter area, would/could this be because the filter itself is "full" or no longer functioning ? or maybe the rubber o ring[looks in good condition]have ordered a new one [filter] anyway as it is looking a tad mucky

I did apply some Vaseline to the o ring this morning and after putting it all back together that reduced the leak somewhat, so think I will need a new one, thanks ..for your comment

Vaseline is a product that contains petroleum jelly which over time will deteriorate the rubber so not a suitable agent to use if replacing with a new rubber 'O' ring. The best product for rubber application is to use a silicon based lubricant but if you do some research yourself regarding petroleum jelly and rubber it will confirm the above.
Tango is perfectly correct about Vaseline. Rightly or wrongly I use a dab of olive oil on my finger and wipe it around the seal. Seems to have worked so far.

new filter arrived today.... noticed it has a working lifespan of a mere 35 days!!! does everybody stick to these guidelines ?
nope! ours gets changed once a year if we remember! leave the old fiter in place and do a puriclean first then put the new filter in,

Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
On the first service I had on my van after acquiring it (s/h - circa 2 years old), my independent service engineer said dispose of the filter and DON'T replace it! The water from site standpipes is mains water, it's doesn't contain any particles to filter out and it generally doesn't have any taint (might get a hint of chlorine if water company users a higher dose than you're used to) to filter out either. BUT you need a tight fitting cap on water butt to keep the bugs out, otherwise they may get pumped through system!
Two reasons for the recommended frequent change by Truma, firstly the filter potentially 'grows' nasty bacteria, although I believe treated with Silver to minimise risk, and secondly the activated charcoal in it (to remove any taint) looses it's effectiveness.
Used mine without a filter for 4 or so years, and never had a problem. Always give the water butt a little swill out on refill to ensure no build up of 'foreign object matter', and been fine.
Don't think I've ever known anyone change the 'rather too expensive' filters at the recommended frequency, and not sure most people are even aware you are supposed to do so!
If/when you sanitise your water system, you'll compromise the taint filtering properties if you don't remove the filter first, and I don't think many people bother about that either!
You are supposed to remove the water filter at the beginning of winter anyway because even when you drain down the water system there is a small volume of water remaining in the filter housing which if it freezes the ice expands and can crack the water filter housing. You can't see when it thaws out but due to the hairline crack the water system then fails to pressurise. This happened to me when I was a novice myself which was costly to replace the filter housing but many experienced caravanners said afterwards that water filters are more trouble than they're worth as they don't offer any real advantage of purifying the drinking water for reasons mentioned above regarding it being a mains water supply which I wholly agree with.
For all the above reasons I've not replaced the Whale water filter after removing it years ago, I only ever replaced it anually as part of the service when we first had the van. We do have a strainer on the inboard pump which would catch any detritus which may find a way into the aquaroll. It has a clear dome and has never needed cleaning yet
