Welcome to UKCS.
Not sure how cutting the poles will stop the escapes. There are screens that are dog proof, if you search the forum: they have a rigid frame so there’s no “give” in the material to wriggle under.

I watched a video too, young Labrador able to get its nose under the bottom between the pegs, but not its body. More pegs? You can get neat gadgets for fixing extra guylines etc onto awnings & tents.
It’s an expensive bit of kit, I wouldn’t fancy taking scissors to it until I’d tried some ideas to seal the base.

Friends use 'Clingons' to peg down their windbreak panels at multiple points along panel length, without any other modifications to the windbreak (Cornish Windbreaks, not that it makes a difference). It keeps their SEVEN dogs from escaping!

Now they've got several Border Collies amongst the 'pack', and when it comes to escaping, very smart BCs as a breed make Houdini look like a rank incompetent amateur and will find a weakness in a flash, but the Clingons have thwarted them for a number of years so far, which has proved the most reliable method they've tried as the dogs had become expert at escaping all other containment methods, including an extended skirt at bottom of panel (effectively what you are trying to achieve with chopping poles down).

The strong grip on the panel, and the secure pegging (with rock pegs), coupled with the close spacing is resistant to the nose under the gap and force your way through technique used with most other added security previously used.
